How a forecast is made
- The latest model data NOAA, ECMWF and the German weather service (DWD) update their global models several times a day. We collect each update as soon as it is published.
- Tailored to your place The model data is brought down to the exact location you choose and shown in your local time.
- Blended into one forecast The models are combined into a single forecast. A blend of independent models is usually more reliable than any one of them alone, and steadier from one update to the next. If a model's data is late, the forecast carries on with the others and says so.
- Easy to read The numbers are turned into weather icons, feels-like temperatures and daily summaries.

Good to know
- Forecasts describe the weather of an area, not a single spot: in valleys, on coasts and on mountain slopes, temperature, wind and rain on the ground can differ from the forecast.
- Forecasts get less certain the further ahead they look, especially beyond about a week.
- For warnings of dangerous weather, always follow your national weather service.
